My Philosophy of Education

I have come to learn that teaching is about so much more than just passing on information. In order for students to learn and grow, they must see their teacher as someone they can trust and look up to. Once these relationships are established and trust is built, I believe that the purpose of education is to help young individuals reach their full potential. I believe in the importance of meeting the diverse needs and capabilities of all students, clear expectations and consistent classroom standards, experiential and active learning, challenging each student based on his/her potential and interests, and staying current with educational research. I am a firm believer in the importance of keeping open communication with students, parents, colleagues, and admin. I also believe in the importance of contributing to a positive school community through creating opportunities for students to explore their interests and desires. All students have the capability to learn. With a positive and caring teacher, each student can succeed in an environment where they feel safe, valued, and respected. A teacher’s goal should be to create a positive and safe learning environment where children know that they can be themselves.
