My name is Stephanie Luca and I was born and raised in Kamloops, British Columbia. I attended Parkcrest Elementary School, Brocklehurst Middle School, and NorKam Senior Secondary School before moving on to post secondary education at Thompson Rivers University. In 2021, I completed my Bachelors of Arts Degree in English and immediately applied to the Bachelor of Education to pursue my passion of teaching. I came to the realization that I wanted to become a teacher near the beginning of my post secondary education journey. Originally, I was studying journalism, but I soon discovered that I was not passionate about this career path, so I began taking other courses to expand my interests and discover what I was interested in pursuing. My experience at Thompson Rivers University inspired me to become passionate about education and choose a career path that would be internally rewarding for me. In my personal and work life, I began getting placed into leadership positions that I discovered I excelled at! I began noticing that I was well-respected and worked well with others in these positions. I also began to figure out what my dominant personality traits and interests were, and these all directed me towards teaching. Finally, I reached out to a former principal to ask for some volunteer hours in a classroom. The moment I stepped foot in a classroom to volunteer, I knew I found my career and that there was no turning back for me. As I embark on my teaching journey, I continue to learn, grow, and develop my skills so that I can become a strong teacher who strives to make a positive difference in the world.
